One more pic

Gm54-120 08-18-2015 06:49 PM

So are you ready to shoot a 270gr bullet sabotless at 2300fps?

Im sure Bestill is ready.

Yep 😄
I have 270 emax and 327 match hunters waiting on it .

Gm54-120 08-18-2015 07:03 PM

I got a bunch sized for my 45. They load with just finger pressure on a clean bore. Im hoping that is tight enough after a little fouling.

Is That for your knight disc ? They will probably be fine but i am sure you have your knurling files handy if not .😄

Gm54-120 08-18-2015 07:10 PM

Yeah for the Knight. Ive got files and i may polish the die out .0001-.0002 with some jewelers rouge or JB red on a bore snake or cotton rope.

Triple Se7en 08-18-2015 07:19 PM

I commented at MM's board on the beauty of the stock. Now I just noticed the 45 cal. Douglas 1:18 barrel on it.

Oh My Lord! I'm drooling now, for I am quite an Omega fan and owner.

W.W. 08-18-2015 09:48 PM

That is a very nice (an clean) looking rifle.

WV Hunter 08-19-2015 03:24 AM

Looks sweet 1874! Looking forward to seeing how she shoots :D

bronko22000 08-19-2015 05:17 AM

Very nice but worthless to me. I'd never be able to get my left thumb in that hole. Can't wait to hear reports on it.

Triple Se7en 08-19-2015 05:27 AM

The fit and feel of the thumbhole stocks are different. I suggest anyone interested in purchasing one, test it first. There's been reports of disappointments and quick sales, from those that purchased prior to handling / shouldering this type of gunstock.

There's less gray area with this design. Shooters seem to either either love them or hate them.

1874sharpsshooter 08-19-2015 05:33 AM

I am ready , if the wait doesnt kill me :)

Grouse45 08-19-2015 05:43 AM

Looks really good!!:cool2:

Triple Se7en 08-19-2015 06:42 AM

sharpshooter

Is that WD-40 right behind those two big jugs for shining the thumbhole, or cleaning-up all that spent Blackhorn powder? ;)

Between the new gun and 10 lbs of Blackhorn, that's quite a chunk of change spent there. Now don't forget to spend equal-amounts on the household Mrs. now. :s2:

She wants a new milk cow ,so thats definitely an equal amount :) for sure

WV Hunter 08-19-2015 07:30 AM

He needs that much powder and bullets to be able to harvest enough game to feed all them munchkins :D

Good luck, hope to see some harvest pics soon!

Gm54-120 08-19-2015 07:31 AM

Is Bestill going to shoot the match with it or just test it out on the range there?

His Omega build/s have done very well in competition.

Actually i am not sure , he just said he wanted to take it to the match and do some testing with it

Gm54-120 08-19-2015 08:30 AM

I just ran some 200gr and 225gr FTXs through the die. They are my "fun" bullets. MUCH harder to size than the others including the Nosler 250gr. They are also noticeably tighter in the bore.

I hope Ron gets a chance to run them through the jugs. They might hold up better than i think they will.

For fun bullets i use 250 gr sst's. They size easy , shoot good and are fairly cheap at .60 each compared to parker and others.
In my My knight disc i have to knurl them rather then size them if i use it .

Gm54-120 08-19-2015 06:13 PM

225gr FTX is under 30cent each. My Super DISC is under .450..close to .4495

He said he is going to compete with it , so hopefully he does well . At least i should have a good idea on its potential :) as well as load info and range info for elevation and windage .

Gm54-120 08-21-2015 08:08 AM

That will be cool and even cooler if he places in the top 3.

I heard from Bestill. The gun will ship Monday. he said the gun performed flawlessly but he didn't have a great day . He did good at 300 yds, and at 500 yds but he messed up on the turkeys at 420 yds. His brother took first place with a similar gun. He finished in 3rd with my gun. Actually it was a three way tie for third.
His brother finished with 15 /20 points second place 12/20 and my gun was 9/20 for the 3 way tie for third. Still not a bad showing. looks like it is a shooter.:s2:

flounder33 08-23-2015 07:17 AM

That's great! Looking forward to your reports Chet.

I bet you can't wait.... :D

BarnesAddict 08-23-2015 07:24 AM

Sad that only 10 shooters showed up for the match.

Results have had the shooter's names smudged:
