My favorite CF rifle/cartridge is the .45-70. I bet these bullets would cause a lot of havoc on just about anything out of my Guide Gun or Cowboy. I push a 300 gr bullet with 51 gr of H4198 and shot 3 bear each with one shot. Farthest any went was about 40 yards. These XPs would probably make even a bigger wound channel and cause more shock and could likely lead to a DRT kill.

With the performance seen on larger hogs, I have no doubt at all that they would be an excellent bear bullet. But as you have pointed out, they are illegal to use on game in many states. There are no restrictions on hogs on most states.

Grouse, as far as I can see after going through a pretty extensive database on Ohio's regs, the only firearms restrictions I could find are for straightwall cartridge handguns and rifles and .38 caliber ML'er. No mention of bullet type at all for either.
