270 Match/Hunter E-MAX Captured
Happily, the second attempt to catch this bullet was a success. Once again the target was carpet, shelf, and water jugs. Range was 26 yard. Powder charge was 80g Blackhorn.
![]() The bullet seemed to work different this second try. Makes me wonder if the tip got stuck in the first bullet or some such. It shredded the first jug, shredded, and flattened the second jug, and was found in the fourth jug. The fifth jug will be carried forward to the next test. The aluminum tip was found on the ground to the left, and in front of the horse. The bullet now weighs 203.1 grain. ![]() |
That's the same bullet returned to you by the Eenarites. They tossed it back last night, via one of the Perseid meteors that showered our planet after midnight. It's categorized as a primate bullet on their planet..... in other words, garbage to them.

What do you think the BC is with that and 89grs of BH?
Those smokeless guys send them a long ways....................Accurately. |
That bullet is NOT intended for sabot use. Get the regular 275gr Match Hunter instead and push it as fast as you can.

I honestly can't see how he got the thing to shoot in a sabot! Dang thing looks like a ballistic missile
|
Its made for sabotless use in 45cal rifles. My non smoker will shoot that bad boy over 2600fps without cracking a sweat. The higher end builds are pushing them 3000fps.

78gr H4198
Hankins 45cal on a Rem 700 CF or 40X action. LRMP module ignition. I imagine a Swinglock 45 can do about the same, That load make around 45Kpsi IIRC ![]() ![]() |

I wont shoot them that hot because its murder on vent liners. You would be lucky to get 30 shots in a standard Savage type plug. The LRMP module plug with a tungsten bushing is good for hundreds of shots with that load though.

I would cherish anything RB made. I barely got to post in the forums before he passed away.

Depending on which design, his was better suited to sabot loads. The recessed version brings the powder closer to the primer. That can be a big benefit with powders like 4198 and sabots in cold weather. I really enjoyed reading his old posts. Ive probably read every one on MML. My barrel is his original spec for contour, its very over built for safety.

Hankins typically uses 78gr of IMR4198 to push a 275gr BE at 3000 fps, at least thats what his video says

You don't seem to realize they despise being called that. They refer to themselves as the Eenahs. The bullet i found in the jug this morning was the third bullet i shot; which was the second bullet shot at the jugs. Admittedly, the Eenah did help me find the tip shown in the photo, but even they, were unable to find the lost bullet. However, you are correct in that the bullet is kinda like garbage to them. It wouldn't have bothered me if the Eenah had placed their bush off limits to me; the seeds out there, are now mature, and they stick to one's socks; get inside one's shoes, and socks. Even the Yeti stay out of that bush this time of year. |
