A little off topic: Fishing Dog
 

My dog cracks me up. You put him in a car and hes the most behaved thing you could ever have. Put him in a canoe and its the same story! He took to the canoe very easily and jumps right into it on his own now. I got a new canoe recently and my buddy that I am taking hunting this September came along and we went up into the mountains, fished for a while until the rain ran us out, but it was a great time. The canoe is fast, light and easy to paddle. Bubba always sits off center and somehow, this thing would correct the off set weight. Now when you catch something, Bubba can get a little to excited and get everyone else in the canoe excited :s2:

Before I would ever get a canoe, I would get a Gheenoe. They are made by a company in Florida and are much much more stable then any standard canoe. Maybe its me, but when I get in a canoe, I always seem to take a dip before the end of the day.

When my Labrador was alive, we'd go fishing in my bass boat and he could not wait to get in. But when you'd hook a fish he always wanted to grab it as you pulled it in the boat. When he was a puppy, you'd throw out a bobber on a line, and you better have a good grip on him or he'd retrieve it for you. But he learned fast to ignore a bobber.

I'd never heard of them before Cayugad. I just looked at their web site. I'm sure they're stable, but have a bit too much beam for comfortable paddling. And even their smallest 13' model is 120 lbs.

The big thing down this way are kayaks. Lots of guys are fishing the inside marshes in them these days.

My friend hand one of them Gheenoe boats, many years ago. And he was telling me how stable the thing was. At the time I had a Grumman White Water Canoe. It was "supposed" to be very stable in calm water. With just me, yes. Put an inexperienced partner in the thing with you, and someone was going to get wet.

I have been thinking of selling my fancy boat and getting a Gheenoe or one of them one man float boats. I just don't use my good boat enough anymore.

I had a little 8 foot plastic flat boat for real shallow stuff. I held two people, one ... more comfortable. And a trolling motor powered it. That was until I was trout fishing with it, about 100 yards off shore, it began to sink. The first weekend in May, the ice has just got off the lake. Needless to say, I had to swim in to shore, then get a rope, swim back out, tie on to the boat, and drag that out of the lake. I purchased my fancy boat the next weekend.

Thank the Good Lord for allowing man to create the Lund Grand Tyee. I put 4 nice walleye in the boat last night and never worried about falling out of it or it tipping over. :s2:

sounds nice! Walleye are just a favorite eating fish for me. In fact I had planned to go out early this morning with the bass boat on the lake next to my place. Woke at 6:00 am and it was POURING DOWN RAIN!! Decided its a good day to burn trash and drink coffee instead. In my Bass Boat which is a 14.6 footer (you get 16 foot or more and you come under a whole lot of new regulations) is real stable. And the big comfortable chairs you sit in make fishing all day almost a pleasure ... if the fish are biting.

Love walleye. It just doesn't get any better, short of a good mess of gills or some of the 15" perch from the lake here. I guess its kinda a toss up.

I'm a night walleye person and troll nearly 100% of the time. Love fishing suspended fish that are 30' to 40' down in deep water. I avoid any daytime fishing short of maybe Huron. My best year fishing the inland lake here is 486 walleye boated. My Tyee is 19', so I have a few more regulations than if under 16'. Depending on anyone with me (3 rod limit per person), I'll run up to 8 rods, all using planer boards. The snap weight method to get to suspended fish.

At least there's something to do when you can't hunt :arms:
