Nosler Ballistic Tip MZ

Yes I know, my point exactly. Hair, fat, tissue, could plug it up to. Next thing people are gonna ask Ron to quit testing bullets cause to many look bad. He already increased the powder so Barnes look better. This isn't directed at you, just sayin. It's amazing what people will do or say to make something bad try to look good.

We are hunting elk right now in Oregon and using Thro bullets , I have some questions and are we doing something wrong , We are getting pin hole pass threw's no expansion in the bullets ,, One of us was able to get a head shot on a yearling and I would expect a big exit hole ,,The 250 gr Thro bullet went straight threw the skull .500 hole in .500 hole out , It was originally hit left front shoulder bullet went threw shoulder down spine cut liver into out right side flank ,, Setup was a ,, CVA ML, 110 gr 3f Triple seven powder .
any help would be great ,,didn't retrieve bullets ,
I got to tell you I was really surprised with this example but in phone call to me I asked him very specific questions and everything points to penciling in all three Elk. It was a 247 gr. 501 Hollow Point.

A forum member hunting in Oregon this week is having the same problem with Thors. Here is shooting 110 grains of T7 - they shot 3 elk and all of the bullets have penciled through. I think the longest shot was 60 yards, so the animal have been very close...'

the largest record elk was shot with a thor and they opened up perfectly. I dont believe word of the mouth, i am more of a ... show me some pics... kind of guy.
I shot my muzzy shotgun today at 25 yards. They didnt go through a 1 gallon jug of water and the recovered bb's weren't even deformed. Do they make lehigh bb's that fragment and keep on truckin so i can be ensured a proper kill?

I would rather shoot a Barnes Original if i wanted a tough bullet. Higher BC, thick pure copper jacket and soft lead core. No poly tip to plug up.
Around $45/50 if you know where to look or about $1.10 a piece anywhere

the actual bullet was impressive in the penetration department. But the idea of it not opening kind of surprised me. I really did not expect the results. But thanks for testing that. I could see that on a large or dangerous game animal like a bear if you were looking for penetration. But again, I'd like to have seen some expansion.

Wow, that Nosler looks like it hasn't even been shot...short of the tip missing.
Doesn't even look the slightest bit deformed. Based on that test, I would not use it if I got them free. Way too many other options that performed much better.
