They make nice target loads but personally I wouldn't use the 250's or 180's for hunting based on the testing I did. The 240's and 300's are much better, imo.
Says they are unavailable anyhow.
I have not used the .458's or .475's.

I wasn't impressed with the 250gr either when shooting full power loads into media. They turned into thin pancakes. It may perform quite well on deer as the fps falls at longer ranges. The HP is huge compared to the 44/240gr or the 45/300gr.
Ive only shot the Speer .475 275gr and it held together fine even at SML speeds. Im considering trying the .458 350gr in the 52cal. It should be a real hammer at nearly 2000fps. I should be able to get close to 2100fps with the 325gr in the 52cal. IIRC that is about the fps i got from a 325gr FTX with a stout load of BH209.

Wow, they went fast and are OOS already.
I don't use high speeds (100+ grains) or go long distances (beyond 150), so it sounds like they will get plenty-used by me in years ahead. I purchased two boxes of 50 pks. At around 33cents apiece, I call it a great bargain.

Here is what I got... 80gr pyrodex, 25yds
I can't explain it. ?? They were the only bullet of over 25 now that I have tested that totally failed. The 250's and 180's both did the same thing.

Why did you label it as a Speer Deep Curl?
OMG.... after looking at both posts with pics, ..... maybe I made a range-only investment then. That sux!
I also have about 90 Gold Dot 230 grain bullets that must be several years old. Are those as bad as the 250s and 180s?

Speer was forced to change the name not the bullet.

I shot mine into what amounts to a torture test and a fairly close range. IIRC Lee9 has actually used them on deer and seems happy with the performance.
If you prefer a 80gr load, you will likely be happy with them if you keep shots in the vitals.
