Pete, I have some PT Gold 240's laying around but for some odd reason the Hawken just will NOT shoot them worth diddly on a light load. And they aren't THAT great with an 85 grain load. Now my TC PH absolutely LOVES them with 120gr BH. If I could shoot BH in the Hawken I'd bet it would like maybe a 70-75 grain load with them.

Are you talking about the 1-48 twist? Kind of slow for sabots.
Seriously, why not a PRB? It works great on deer, and she'll love the recoil. |
No it's a Green Mountain drop in 1/28 twist.

Oh, ok. It's a mongrel.

Yep but I like the old mutt

WV I had one of the 40/200 grain not exit on a large buck , it went in a little in front of the hind quarter on the left side tore up every thing inside and ended in the skin of the right front shoulder after going through the shoulder. He had taken off when I turned around to get a shot and he went about 25 yards part of it on his nose. The load I was using was 120 grains of Blackhorn in a Endeavor 50 caliber with a blue 50/40 sabot.
Some friends were shocked he made it that far but I was not when they are already scared and running they always go a little ways I was surprised he did not go farther. |
