CVA Optima V2 Pistol Target

Got lucky today, the wife's dentist cancelled an I was somewhat caught up so decided to head to the range while it was still cool outside.

I tried several boolet combo's: Upper Left is Speer 240gr. 44cal/.430SWC in a knight sabot, Upper Right is Hornady 240gr. PA conical/unlubed wad, Lower Left is Hornady XTP .452/300gr.Harvester Crushrib sabot, Lower Right is TC Shockwave 250gr.supplied sabot and Center is Hunter280man's HP SpireRBT .451/250gr. in Harvester Crushrib sabot.

I used 60gr. Blackhorn 209 for three of the shots in Upper Left then went to 70gr. for the rest of the first target.
The Hornady XTP .452/300gr. shot the best so went out to 50 yds an got this three shot group in target on right.
I stopped as the shooter was starting to get tired....but I think this handgun isn't bad for a 14 inch barrel. Might have to take her hunting this fall. :)

That's some mighty fine handgun shooting toytruck.

Is Mark Lynch still around and making his Hunterman boolits?

Thats pretty cool that his lead boolits at only 250gr didn't give you ignition issues with a HBCR sabot. Im assuming you have either Ron's modded plug or the Western BH209 plug?

I can email him and ask

Yes, I used the Western BH209 plug, no ignition issues at all. I had Ron modify the original plug also for blackhorn powder.

I tried triple seven for three shots prior to yesterdays shooting, an flash backs of crud rings came flooding back....I just kept on shooting with the blackhorn. :cool2:

I bought these from Mark many moons ago and had them on hand, so thought I would give them a try. They are a real possibility also in this handgun, but I only have a few left now, so didn't want to commit to them for hunting. I wonder if these are the same bullets that Ed also makes?? (HP Spire RBT)

I bought my first CVA last year. A Optima. I was so pleased with that one I bought another one. I now own three, I am getting on par similar accuracy results. CVA really does have a good thing going with these guns,

I spoke to Mark and he sold his his casting equipment and no longer makes bullets.

Darn shame, he made some fine bullets. I still have an assortment of his .451 conicals too, but that's another thread...

Toy - do you have it scoped. Either way that is very good shooting. I imagine with 70 gr of BH209 that it is quite a handful.
