OT - As long as no one is shooting yet

Let's see a list of your favorite movies. Mine are:
1. Jeramiah Johnson
2. The Mountain Men
3. Quigley
4. Monte Walsh

There was a movie I saw a while ago with Sam Elliot and Ben Johnson but I can't remember what the title was. I remember them shooting glass balls in a competition and Eliot was using a 50 cal Hawken Johnson was using a 1873 Win.

By Golly... you and I are of same mind. Last Stand At Saber River & Crossfire Trail.. is good too. But I like Tom Selleck movies.

Semisane 05-01-2015 08:51 AM

I liked all that have been previously listed, but I saw "Last of the Mohicans" on the big screen when it came out and it was awesome. Especially the part where they were ambushed after leaving the fort.

For a western I like.

"Once Upon A Time In the West"

Great movie with Henry Fonda and Charles Bronson.

Cool Hand Luke
Chisum
Big Jake
(ok pretty much any John Wayne other than the searchers LOL)
Sandlot
Pirates of Carribean series
Many of Clint's movies - too many to list
I love sports movies too, lots of good ones

ronlaughlin 05-01-2015 12:24 PM

Lots of good ones already mentioned; don't forget about Shane, or High Noon.

Oldtimr 05-01-2015 02:25 PM

Any western staring John Wayne, Ben Johnson, Clint Eastwood, Roberty Duvall, Tom Selleck or Sam Elliot!

Agreed. It won't be Paint Your Wagon, though!

Semisane 05-01-2015 03:27 PM

Oh Man! Paint Your Wagon. Totally forgot about that one. I even liked Lee Marvin's singing (but not Eastwood's).

Don't forget Cougans Bluff. Can't remember if I've seen it in entirety or not.

Semisane 05-01-2015 04:11 PM

What? No one picked a Barbara Streisand movie??? :s2:

Muley Hunter 05-01-2015 04:17 PM

Who?

.........

bronko22000 05-01-2015 04:47 PM

I forgot about Lee Marvin in his role in Cat Balloo. I'll never forget the part where he was drunk on his horse and leaning against the wall. The young indian said, "your eyes look terrible". To which he replied "You should see them from my side." too funny.

But I don't think you'll find any guys better than Selleck or Elliot in a cowboy movie (other than the legends of the west like Wayne and Eastwood).

Muley Hunter 05-01-2015 05:14 PM

Here's one of the better scenes from "Once Upon a Time in The West"

If you don't figure it out Bronson is the kid holding up his brother. I'm a huge Bronson fan, and this was one of his better movies. Fonda plays a pretty good bad guy too.

Another good scene. The opening scene.

Another great quote from a western: Don't shoot Mongo. You'll only make him mad."

Lets not forget The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly"

Sorry Muley but I never liked Once Upon A Time In The West, for starters that opening scene that just never seems to end...

It is a TV series not a movie but Deadwood is also good - if you can get past the profanity.

deer655 05-02-2015 06:36 AM

I know its not a movies but the first season of Game of Thrones was awesome. I'm one of the few that thought the "Deerhunter" was great-too long but great movie. Young Frankenstein was the best comedy ever. My brother and I always have a "quotefest" of lines from that movie when we get together. I enjoyed "On borrowed Time" where death gets stuck in an apple tree until Lionel Barrymore lets him down. Moby Dick was a good one too. Gregory Peck nailed Ahab

Not everybody like it, but this was said about the movie. I'm in good company of those who like it.

The film is now generally acknowledged as a masterpiece and one of the greatest films ever made.[3][4] In 2009, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being “culturally, historically or aesthetically significant”.

That Russian Roulette scene from Deerhunter was awesome.

That movie is when I realized how great an actor Christopher Walken is. Another actor I find very talented is Willem Dafoe.
