Looking for a MK85 part

I heard from WV Hunter, that he was going to have to rehome this sweet little girl.
I did the same thing I do to every used ML and I polished her up with some JB bore paste. I started out doing 25 strokes per patch. WHen I was done I was at 700 passes before i got it where it needed to be. I think a lot of it was plastic from Sabots. She is now called "dirty girl"
Well she is clean and looking pretty. I am hoping to get some time to shoot it this weekend.

The part I am looking for is the hood for the front sight. If anyone has one or knows of one please let me know. Thanks.

yep that is a williams FP peep. I am planning to shoot 460 gr paper patched bullets in it.

80 grains of yellow corn meal may be the ticket for various paper-patchers. If you are familiar with Blackhorn 209 powder, it doesn't work with loose bullets. It was so dysfunctional with my 285 grain Buffalo SSB sabot/bullets, that ignition sounded like I fired a 209 cap.

Anyways, I was using 80 grains of Blackhorn with it, so I double-loaded 80+80 of Cornmeal and Blackhorn (volume measured).

Results were fantastic. Instead of looking for my bullet between my bench and the target 75 yards away, I put the next two about 4" off, at 1:00 of the bullseye.

Walked down to the target paper stand and was thinking I was going to find sideways bullet holes. No sirreeee!

Why would he use BH209 in a plunger gun?

BTW i shot plenty of loose fitting bullets with BH209. Both heavy conicals and jacketed with a veggie wad. Not one FTF yet.

It seems that many times where I post a different direction-option (both here and on other ML messageboards), you look at it straight and narrow, rather than peripheral. I never said he used Blackhorn. I only demonstrated that sometimes paper-patching, sub-bases and felt wads are not the only option for loose bullets.

I hope she works out well for you Ron. After recently picking up a couple new rifles, had to thin the herd a little to make room. :D

I thinned out my herd big-time in December. Sold 5 and purchased 1.

Curious WV Hunter....

What manufacturer sabot did you use-most in this ML Ron purchased? Were you generally shooting 100+ grains of powder too? What about your cleaning ritual. Did you always brush, sticking to a particular brand of solvent?

I know some ML members don't even use a bore brush. They use a jag and/or snake. So with Ron's thought that perhaps plastic fouling existed in your bore, it's always interesting to read afterwards what the former ML owner was using inside their bores.... both sabot manufacturer, amount of powder and cleaning rituals.

We are always looking for better products and better ways to engage this fine sport. Plus trying to find out what doesn't work well and what to avoid purchasing.
