New Flintlock Barrel is here.

So I shot my new 45cal 1/20 twist Flintlock barrel on Saturday. Im so relieved now I can shoot premium bullets. The barrel looks a little rough just because it comes unfinished. I plan on sending it out tomorrow to have Duracoat put on it.

I shot it 12 times on Saturday. After moving the open sights I managed to put my last 6 shots in a 2" group at 50 yards. I know that's not great, but I just don't practice open sights at all and really need to. I used 90grns of Goex and the 200grn XP by Lehigh defense. Ill probably switch to the 230grn Bloodline for hunting season, but between now and then many things could change.

The barrel is a little tight loading at the crown, but once the bullet is started it loads really nice. Here are a couple pics I took at the range.

Now that would make a nice walking around rifle. And that dura coat you are talking about... don't that make the barrel black? That should look nice.

Why not just brown the barrel??

Six shots of 2" groups (with or without open fiber-optic sights) is very good at 50 yards. I like trigger guards the size of that one. Great for wearing a thin pair of gloves underneath oversized insulated gloves and still get our index finger inside that big trigger hole.

Looks like you need a Sims pad thou.......
