fun shooting day

It was unseasonably warm the last couple of days so I decided to do a bit of shooting with the .54. I ended up taking the old Lyman GPR

its been so long since I shot it that I decided to check and make sure it was still sighted in. Plus I reduced the powder charge from my normal 90 to 100 gr load to 70 gr.

the first shot on a clean barrel was the lower right shot..
this was 75 yards

shot three was right with shot two so I decided that was good enough

so I decided to do a little fun shooting, shooting at the axe( 25 yards ) ,flour filled balloons (100 yards) etc.

well one of the kids with me had a little rubber ball

He wanted to see if I could shoot it. So of course I agreed. I taped it to the target

I was really amazed at the result.

this confirmed my suspicion that rubber balls are dangerous.

after that I shot at the axe a little longer then switched guns and shot my gong at 400 and 500 yards for the rest of the day

All in all it was a fun day:D

In your 2nd pic, what is that 'modern'-looking, red, thing-a-mah-jig?

How did something from today get inside a pic representing yesteryear?

That gun is bootyful and those sights (front and back) are awesome.

I'll bet you didn't mind shooting 70 grains either. Who stole your rubber recoil pad and put that curve in your stock-butt?.... :)

Seriously I want an inline made with 1:66 twist, with a curve at the end like that. Imagine shooting Blackhorn in an inline with a .177 gr. roundball and spit patch?

Watcha' think?
No, I haven't been drinking. Just wearing this 'Make-Me-Silly' hat I got for Christmas.

That red thing in pic 2 is a box of hornady .530 balls.and the crescent butt plate works great as long as you put it on the arm and not tuck it up to the shoulder:)

Very good shooting. I have two of them rifles and I constantly have to remind myself.. on the arm not the shoulder.

That rubber ball really made a nice hole.

DANG RIGHT! That's why background checks should be required to purchase those suckers. And a waiting period.

How did you do with the axe?

Not good a 20% success rate . I was thinking that a 72 cal round ball might be an advantage :patriot:
