Flintlock firing in slow motion (video)
It's no wonder being a good shot with a muzzleloader takes lots of practice. You don't notice the delay that much until you slow things down

That guy sure wasn't wearing a friendly video-taking face.
Yes, the slow-motion replay was pretty cool. |
Lol...that was me. Actually had a misfire right before that shot. I wanted to slow the video down to see how bad I was flinching.
|
Neat video Windwalker. I don't see any flinch. Just a bit of eye blink at the trigger pull.
|
Yep! no flinch. You done good. I noticed that rifle seemed to have a little recoil. What kind of load were you shooting?
|
I didn't notice a flinch either. But I may have detected a bit of 'fusing' caused by too much powder in the pan. You might want to try a bit less - just enough to give you reliable ignition and not cover the flash hole.
But the video was cool. |
The load was 90gr of ff with a patched round ball. I'm thinking the slow motion exaggerated the way the recoil looked.
|
It was slow enough that I would have considered it a "hang fire".... If you're using the proper vent liner (touchhole), your frizzen face is clean, your flint's sharp and you haven't banked the pan too heavy toward the vent, you shouldn't hear the "klatch" of the lock ahead of the report. It should just go BOOM!!

Very cool. Thanks for posting.
