Hornady 44cal. (.430) 265gr FTX Bullet Flex-Tip

Anyone tried these?

Bought these to try out in my .50 cal Omega...matching with green Harvester Crush Rib sabot. We'll see how they work. Going to use Triple 7 and BH 209.

Hornady shows these for .444 Magnum. I didn't try them because I didn't think I'd be loading to that level. I'm sure someone has tried it.

Here's what Hornady says: Designed to perform at muzzle velocities from 1,600 to 2,600 fps. That suited me well enough to give them a try. We'll try them out and see. Will post results.

I shoot the .458 325 grain version out of my .52 Knight.

They shoot very well. I have not taken game with one to date. I have no doubt they would do just fine.

I'm going to try these next with a MMP orange sabot. I'm like you Josmund, I think I can make them shoot with a little experimenting. :)

I have harvested 2 deer with the 265 gr ftx. Both deer went maybe 25yds. Blood everywhere. Never recovered bullets. One shot was about 30 yds and the other 75yds. These r very accurate for me as well. Just my experiences.

I'm guessing that charge should be approx somewhere in-the-middle of what that bullet likes in fps.

That sounds right to me also. I don't have a chrony. I am an average shooter and I could group these at 1.5" - 2" with consistency at 100 yds. Someone who is a shooter could do better I am sure. Internal damage was immense. I think it is a pretty darn good white tail bullet. I used Harvested plain green sabots with the bullet.
