Question Regarding Bullets for TC FX
My brother just got this rifle coming from a Knight Disc and wanted to shoot 100 gr. Pyrodex pellets and the 260 gr. saboted Knight jacketed bullet (50 cal). His problem is that the Knight bullet will not go down the barrel without extreme effort that distorts the end of the bullet. Is there something else that he should be trying to shoot in this weight range that will load correctly?
Thanks |
Try a crush rib sabot. Your sabot is too big for that particular barrel.

I don't know anything about these sabots but when I look at them I see they come in 2 sizes 429-430 and 451-452. Is there a way to know what you need in his gun?
Thanks |
.451 Sabot
I believe the Knight bullet/sabot combination you have is a black .45/50 sabot with a .45 bullet. It may be packaged with this Speer bullet: http://<a href="http://www.speer-bul...spx?id=208</a>
Assuming it is black and a .45 bullet, you need the .451-.452 black crush rib sabot, 50 Cal Crushed Rib Sabot for .451-.452 Cal Bullet H15045BR. |
The bullet is as you described Bill, thanks for the help.

A couple of things to think about: 1) Is the barrel properly cleaned and free of powder residue? With sabots, you should be swabbing between every shot. 2) You can mix and match bullets and sabots to find the right fit for your gun. A 50 cal will vary from .498 to .504 depending on how new the equipment was when rifling the bore. Again, Knight are generally on the larger size which makes me think something else is going on. |

Sounds like he is asking about a Pro Hunter FX to me and the T/C barrel may run on the tight side. Harvester black crushribs should correct the hard loading.

We will find out tomorrow when we shoot the gun as he found some sabots and maybe a TC bullet. Thanks for all the help.
