white bison .540

anybody out there have a bison .540 ? i just bought one and haven't shot it yet i ordered some no excuses 535 gr bullets and i'm just looking for any comments on loads or other issues with the gun.

My Bison is a .50 caliber. It sure loves big lead. But don't push too much powder under them. That large lead only needs like 70 grains to be effective on deer. I would start out with 70 grains and see what it does. Good luck and keep us posted.

I have one. Those 535s shoot great with 65- 75 grains of T7 3F. You can shoot them with 90 grains as well if you want to increase velocity but perhaps not accuracy.

The 425 Great Plains shoot very well also.

ok thank's for the info guy's cant wait to shoot this thing! i still have to decide if i want to go with scope or lyman peep sight which is what i'm leaning towards.

Does it have the myrtle wood stock? If so, you may want to look at strengthening the pistol grip.

I also have a 540 Bison. I call it my little cannon. The No Excuses shoot well out of it. I use a peep sight and feel comfortable out to 80 yards or a bit more.
Good luck with your rifle, it must be the one I saw on gunbroker.

yeah i glass bed all of my stocks but i am going to have some laminated stocks made for the g-series gun's and some made for the super 91's. i have a g-series that cracked right at the point at the safety cut out but was able to drive a screw down thru with some glue on it and the best part it is under the back of the action can't even see it. thanks for the tip

I saw that one. A .540 would be nice but I recently picked up a 2nd white lightning so I had to pass. Someday I'll get one.
