Default Questions about Triple 7 Pellets.

I have some Tripple 7 Pellets in the original plastic case and I think they are at least 3 years old. They look okay and have never been wet. My question to you is are these still good and do they have a shelve life? Would you use these for this hunting season, I have about 15-20 pellets in the case.

Thanks,

I would think they would be fine. But I also would test fire a couple rounds to not only check your rifle with them, but the pellets themselves. Of all the pellets that ever went bad on me, Triple Seven were the ones. And that was right out of fresh box.

Since you say they have never been wet, I would like to say trust them. But a new box is pretty cheap when the cards are on the table.

Save them for targets - I would not take the chance

They absorb moisture from the air, and your part of the country is pretty humid. They don't need to actually contact water.

I would not chance it.

If you must use pellets, store the whole box in a air tight container with desiccant packets.

Chuck the pellets and buy powder. You will not regret it.

Is the only way to find out by going to "the" university?

I hardly think so.

I must be lucky. A neighbor gave me a nice wooden box, The size of a 24 roll of toilet paper, full Black Powder stuff from a deceased brother. Bullets, powder, 209 primers, cleaning stuff, accessories! It all works-don't know how old the pellets/powder is. Killed a nice AL 8-pt out my back door(Country boy). Keep it cool and dry. My Rem 700 25-06 still shoots the 100 rds I loaded in 1996, left in my 1996 K5 Blazer that I drive less than 15 miles a year since I am not in a hunting club into .75" groups 4 yrs running.

You chrono'd the pellets, and compared it to new pellets? They shot consistent groups? Shooting a deer in your back yard is not a good test.

25-06 is immaterial. It's smokeless.

Leaving any propellant is a vehicle for a long period of time seems like a very poor choice of action. It certainly wont remain cool in the summer.
