A challenge ( Off Topic)
:s2::s2:While waiting for muzzy season A fella has got to do something. One of the things I do is archery antelope hunt. The opener was yesterday. Bow hunting a speed goat is one of the greatest challenges I've had . I think my record for the past few years has been at least 13 stalks before a successful harvest. The wide open prairie makes it rather difficult.'
The technique that i've found to bring me the most success is a homemade ghillie.
I find a clump of cone flowers or weeds and either sit or work my way close inch by inch literally. My longest stalk to date took over 7 1/2 or 8 hours .( I forget exactly)
Here I am on opening day .
There was a mud hole but the antelope weren't using it to drink from. I was watching it because they have been crossing from one ag field to another and passing by it. there was also a nice clump of weeds that I could hide in. I passed on a little guy but the one I was after stayed about 3/4 of a mile away. Its a long season though.
The pics below show the field I was watching, then me with my homemade suit and the face cover in place. I can see through it to watch but I move it aside to shoot.
here I am HARD AT WORK GOAT HUNTING .
Now look at this pic, its amazing how even a persons eyes stick out.
this was last years harvest , 52 yd shot.
and yes, it does get hot when its in the 90's. and you have 5 or 6 pounds of jute on.
