A new convert
My cousin (3 years my elder) and I went up to cabin yesterday for a day of R&R. This R&R was slightly postponed until we cut up and remove a pair of 10" oaks that fell across the road to the camp. During the course of the day we shot our ''black'' rifles and then I brought out the .58 Renegade and started making smoke. He shot it a couple times and was enjoying himself but his eyes aren't sharp enough to use the open sights. That's when I initiated out my premeditated plan. I pulled put my .50 cal Knight dried the bore, loaded it up and handed it to him. With the 4x scope he poked a hole in the center of the bull at 50 yards. I swabbed the bore and loaded it up again. His second shot cut the first hole. He was all smiles. After some instruction on loading more shooting and later how to clean it. I handed him a bag full of bullets, sabots, powder measure, 209 primers, 2 bottles of new red primer jackets and a couple other 'necessities' and and told him that it was all his. I don't think I could have knocked the grin off his face with a 2x4!

That was very kind of you. It always feels good to do something nice for someone else. And no, you can't have my guns...

:biggrin:It's always good to see someone else climb aboard the black powder train. Good job. Although it would have been better to get him started with a traditional Hawken, better yet in a Flintlock

It is such a great feeling to hook someone up with tools and ideas that may help them be successful in the outdoors. A true outdoorsman act and a great example to follow
