TC Black Diamond And Patched Round Balls

Couple years ago i discovered that this gun shoots patched round balls tolerably well. The QLA makes for easy loading too.

Distance: 75 meters
Wind: 12 o'clock 15mph gusting to over 20 mph.

Rifle: TC Black Diamond
Scope: ZA-3 Minox
Primer: Winchester #11 magnum
Powder: 80 grains of sifted 3F Pinnacle
Patch: Pre-lubed
Ball: Hornady .490

Fired this 2" group.

Changed the target and moved it to 100 meters.

Powder: 100 grains of sifted 3F Pinnacle
Bullet: 250 grain SST
Sabot: Short black

Fired three rounds into a group that measures 7/8". Problem was i was aiming at the left hand lower target. Adjusted the scope and fired another group that measures 1 3/4".

The guy at the next bench was firing a very nice AR-15 making nice groups. Told him i was going to put a big bullet into the middle of his 1" five shot group. He said: "You can't do it. Held about 1 1/2" to the left and put a big hole in the middle of his group. No camera, no picture.

Those SSTs are really stacking in there well Falcon. Good shooting.

Like your rifle, my Black Diamond XR shoots roundball very well. I never push them as hard as you do, but that is some good shooting. And the Shockwaves out of the BD are just deadly. I was shooting them at 150 yards, sitting in a lawn chair, off shooting sticks into a paper plate. I had to find the drop mind you, but once that was discovered.. I could hit that plate with ease.

The BD is just a good rifle. Granted its old technology but it sure shoots well.

Dave,

What is the rate of twist in the Black Diamond .50? is it 1:38? Just curious...

1-28 twist. Its the same barrel you'd find on the Omega other then the breech action is different. That is what a tech at T/C told me. And even though I have a QLA on mine, it shoots conical bullets, sabots, and even roundball. And can do it with three different ignition systems.

Almost a year ago my son was in a pawn shop. They had a stainless BD with a Tasco scope on it. It was in good shape, the price was $150 out the door. I am jealous. I don't know how it shoots.

I also have a TC Black Diamond and have yet to find a bullet it wont shoot, just good all around shooter. Even cleaner shooting since I started using No. 11 caps instead of 209.
