Interesting conversation-
A guy who works at a lumber supplier I purchase from, after several years of casual conversations, asked me if I was a felon.
Say what?!
He said he figured since I only mention shooting muzzleloaders that maybe I was prohibited from owning "big guns"...
I told him I've been thinking lately about getting a cannon.

FYI: Most muzzleloaders on the market today are not classified as "Firearms" under the Federal Firearms law, no background checks are required and purchasers do not have to sign Federal Form 4473. Guns with interchangeable barrels that can use centerfire and rimfire metallic cartridges and muzzleloader barrels; like Knights KP-1, the Tompson Contender and others are considered firearms and Form 4473's and a background check are required to purchase. I believe the same is true of some of the custom muzzleloaders being built today using conventional rifle actions(Remington 700, Ruger Num 1 etc) and smokeless powder. If I'm not mistaken, the first version of Savage's 110 ML had to be altered to avoid that problem. The exempt version is known as the 10ML II. Some state laws may prevent felons from hunting with certain weapons.
