Apex/Kodiac stock needed
 

My son broke the stock on our Winchester Apex which was made by CVA and which they sold as the Kodiak. I bought the gun in 2004. Does anyone know where I could get a replacement stock?

I would keep an eye on gunbroker and the other gun auction sites. You don't see many of those guns around, my guess is there's probably not many stocks for sale. You may have to pick up another whole gun for a decent price, just to get a stock. Not sure if anyone makes an aftermarket or not. You could also put some ad's up "Want to buy..." on various classifieds.

Sounds lime a good reason to buy a new gun:)

Those darn Kids! I'd kinda like to hear the story. Run Over by a truck perhaps?

It may be easier to fix the stock on a gun of that age. Is it synthetic or a laminate version?

The story
 

Well, the story isn't all that interesting. We hunt an area where the descent is very steep, and he was coming down the mountain with the gun over his shoulder. He slipped on some wet leaves and hit his behind. The butt of the stock landed on a rock or something and snapped the plastic clean off. Oh well. One other idea I had was to try and build a stock myself. Since I already have the barrel, this would be a nice excuse to give that a try. I have a friend who wants to build his own flintlock. Maybe I'll offer to let him 'practice' on this barrel.
