250gr. vs 300gr Sabot

Wondering which would be more effective at 200+ yards. I do allot of archery and I know a heavier broadhead has more kinetic energy at longer distances. Would there be a big difference between 250 and 300gr. sabot? Thanks.

You have pretty much answered your question...

But, there is the fact that if you boost the amount under the 250 to increase velocity you could possibly make-up the difference. An additional consideration, the 300 grain bullet at that distance could be less effected by external forces than the 250 grain bullet since it has more mass to move.

A good bullet to look at as far as bc is a .429 Hornady XTP in 300gr...The Shockwaves will beat it as far as bc but with a hollow point the Hornady mushrooms more readily...

i've only shot 2 deer with a ML but neither walked an inch after getting shot with a 250 grain. the definitely don't fire as fast as a rifle but they sure slap hard when they hit.

I believe I read that you should have at least 800 pounds of energy to effectively take down a whitetail. At 200 yards the 250 in the chart above just meets that, while the 300 still has 1000 pounds of energy.

I shoot 300 grain Parker Productions Ballistic Extremes and they wallop deer - bang flop. But never got a chance to shoot one over 85 yards.

The 300s are also longer than the 250s so you should have a better ballistic coefficient with a 300.
