Whatever you decide, be sure it is with primers that you can get locally. They are relatively cheap unless you order them online, then you have to pay the hazmat fee. I use Remington STS primers because they work well for me and I can get them locally.
And +1 on knowing the gun and powder. For example, there are Winchester 777 primers and Remington also makes a similar one that is REDUCED POWER. These should only be used with triple 7 powder, NOT with BH 209 powder. So the answer is different depending on what powder you will be using. |
I like Fed 209A with BH209.

As everyone has stated, I think it depends on the powder. If I am shooting 777 pellets, I use the T7 primers as it reduced my crud ring compared to the CCI 209M.
For Blackhorn I use the Fed 209A's as I could not find anymore CCI 209M primers a month ago. If you were going to pin me down and say pick one... CCI 209M or FED 209A. They may leave a crud ring with some powders, but they ware compatible with BH 209 and I can also use them when reloading shotgun shells. I like the magnum primers and either one of these the gun should go BOOM!!!! |
