reminton genesis
I was wondering if any one else has had problem with the torchcam getting stuck after shooting. any ideas how to fix the problem. I seems like the primer is bulging and causing it to stick
|
Yes used it one season and put it in safe. Then I went out and got a tc Omega like I was looking at in the first place. No problem with it. The remington seams like it was a good idea but I think it's to much gas competing back. The primes look fine when I did get it opean. And could not find a load it would shoot. I tired different bullets and charges, lose and pellets. Remington was no help they said they heard no one else having a probable with it not cleaning, and said to reduce charge amount. Should try it one day with 70 grains, tried with 90-150 grains.

Myself, i have never shot this rifle, so my advice could very well be worthless. However, perhaps if you were to recock, and pull the trigger on the spent primer, this will allow the action to open.

I have one and it shoots great.
I need to go look at my load data but that is up north in the vault. I do know I used 2 - 50 gr Pyro Pellets. A 209 primer. Even shot well with 90 grains BH209 but dang if I can remember the sabot and bullet I used. Mine is a tack driver. Way fun to shoot cayugad has shot a Remington Genesis for yrs and can help you far greater than I can. Hey Dave...... Bring on your ideas. Dave....JW |
I have shot my Genesis more then I care to think. And yes, I have had the cam get tough to open. But I found that by keeping some Q-tips in my shooting bag. When you shoot and it starts getting hard to open, take a Q-tip and soak it in your mouth, then with the primer out, wipe out the primer pocket. Also wipe off the inside face of the cam. This will help you open and close the cam much easier.

hey thanks for the info I will try the q tip ideas sounds like it could solve my problem. I love the genesis it is a very accurate muzzleloader and fun to shoot the jam up just gets a little frustrating.

I have had an issue with some primers being too "long" for the cam to close, but no trouble opening after firing. Make sure you are cleaning the threads in the breech and on the BP well, and you are seating the BP well in the gun.
