Blackpower bullets and sabots
 

Hey Everyone,
I have a novice question.
When using sabots with bullets in a blackpowder firearm,Has anybody had trouble with the sabot messing up the lands and/or grooves in the barrel?

Not that I have heard of, 20 years ago we used to have a little plastic that came out when you cleaned but the new plastic works even for the smokeless guys.

I would hate to guess how many sabots I put through rifles. No problems. These new sabots are even more sturdy and do not seem to foul the bore. But an occasional brushing with a solvent does not hurt anything and keeps the mind happy.

I've never had the problem, however I saw an ad recently from Otis, the gun cleaning guys, that they have a new Plastic Remover product that I suspect was developed for the shotgun folks. So far I've not seen it on the shelf with their other gun cleaning kits and supplies.
