Need A Lee Mold - .490 Round Ball
Do any of you guys have one to sell? Single or double cavity - I don't care.
They are out of stock at every vendor I've tried, except one. That one was Cheaper Than Dirt, and they wanted $12.95 to ship a $20 mold. What a rip off. |
Wish I could help you. Did you try Ebay? TaDa:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/LEE-490-ROUN...ht_1685wt_1018 No wonder he has 6 in stock This one is better , at least it's closer to a fair price http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewi...d=390644550273 |
$28.84 plus $6.54 shipping? He can keep his six.
I'm on the "notify" list at Graf & Sons. Their price on Lee molds is $20.99, which includes shipping. |
Well buddy you said you wanted one. I may be heading to Cabelas this week. I'll check their stock and give you a shout if they have one.
|
Thanks Bronko. If they have one please grab it and get it headed my way.
They are backordered on the Cabala's web site. But the store may have one. |

worse comes to worse Semisane... your a good friend. If you want, I will mail mine to you. It is a Lee Mold and leaves a very small spur. You keep it a couple months and cast all the roundball you little heart desires. Then just mail it back to me. I never cast until winter time when it is nice and cold and I can leave the doors open in the shop anyway. With your weather it does not matter. If you want to borrow it, say the word and I will put it in the mail...

I've got a Lee #90449 (.495) round ball mold if it will work.
|
That's a generous offer Cayugad. If I don't snag a mold in the next week or two I may take you up on it.
Wabi, the .495 would probably work. Let me chew that over a bit. This would be for my .50 Great Plains flintlock. It shoots like a champ with .490 balls and I kind of hate to mess with success. The .490s are pretty snug with the pillow tick patch I'm using. |
If its a Lyman your loading for the .495 does work. But if its a T/C they are kind of tight. I think I have a .495 mold also. I will have to look. I have A LOT of different molds out there in the shop.
|
Semi - I made a call to Cablea's just now because I was heading down there on Thursday. Unfortunately though they do not have any .490 RB moulds (or .495s) in stock. Sorry buddy.
|
Thanks for the try Bronko. It's no big deal. I'll probably just wait until Lee makes a production run and the retailers get restocked. After all, I do have other guns to shoot.
|
Sharpsshooter, that one on the ebay link you posted would require a mighty thick patch. :happy0157:
Anyway guys. the mold issue is resolved. I'll be casting in a week or so. |
