Default Great Plains .50 Flintlock - Targets From First Shooting Session

I finally got around to scanning the targets from my first range session with the .50 Great Plains flintlock. All 15 are below.

They were shot at 50 yards from the bench with a Caldwell Rock Jr. rest under the forend and rabbit ear bags under the buttstock.

I'm quite happy with the results. That's about as good as my eyes can do with the Lyman primitive style rear sight. (Anyone have a 57 peep they want to sell?)

What impressed me is the consistency with loads ranging from 50 grains to 120 grains.

The first target is 50 grains GOEX FFg with an increase of 5 grains for each subsequent target.

That is really consistant. It's great to find guns/barrels that aren't picky.

Isn't it fun and satisfying when you get a rifle that will shoot that consistently.

Yes it is Paul. I just wish my eyes were as consistent as the gun.

I think filing the top of the sight flat (Partridge style) will allow a more precise sight picture. But what I really need is a peep.

(The sight is blued. Camera flash makes it look shiny, but it's not.)

If my wife hears me say "mo" in conjunction with guns she may just hit me with one.
