WOW!!! that would make me a little nervous. I know kind of their feelings.. I was in a brush ground blind one year, hunting deer. And I had a big bear come in right behind me. When your sitting there and the bear is ten feel away.. it makes you pucker, and I don't mean with your mouth. After that I debated carrying a rifle or handgun also.

Then the year I bear hunted with my muzzleloader, I was in a ground blind and had a sow and two cub come into the bait. The cubs kept walking around the ground blind and mother bear was very upset about something. One of the cubs I am sure it was them.. was so close, I am surprised it could not hear me breathing as I could hear it. Knowing that you have one shot (roundball to boot) and a sow ten feet away with cubs... makes you really scared. After that I carried the muzzleloader still, but also the Ruger Redhawk .44 magnum.

LOL...I always wondered why this didn't happen to more tree stand hunters.

Probably because out of the countless trees in the woods the chances of a bear climbing the one that you are sitting in is very slim making it a rare occurrence.

I think that bear saw them. I've seen hunting videos where the bear looked right at the camera. Some of them have been sows with cubs.

I always wondered why they didn't attack.

Generally because they are outside the threat range and are not posturing in a threatening manner. If the hunter was to move suddenly one of two things would likely happen. A. The bear dd's it out of there. or B. It starts posturing agresively which might end in an attack.

Either way, it's cool.

I had no idea an adult bear could get up a tree that fast. That's a pants pooper.

Semi, actually the bear that cimbed thetree was a much younger bear than the one that was on the bait and ran him up. But FYI, yes adult bear can get up the just as fast.
