Hey SK.... How does the scope and eye relief feel. Where you have it looks fine but not sure of the relief on the powderhorn. That is the only reason, I was waiting for your review before ordering. Looks promising and will probably be ordering one next week.
I think I am going with just the black. I know I will tear the walnut up and I don't like the camo pattern on their camo version. So, I think i am going to buy the black and have a local guy dip it.

Eye relief was pretty good with that scope. I don't have an exact measurement but with that Powderhorn on it I thought it was just fine. It is a muzzleloader scope, I don't know if that makes a difference.

If the scope is a Cabelas Powderhorn EXT 3x10x40, its supped to be from 4.1-3.8" of eye relief. The basic info claimed 4-4.5" but the specs say the 3x10x40 is less.

Making it Colorado legal

Making it legal in Colorado

I, too, just purchased this gun for a BP Elk hunt in Colorado next month. Colorado requires iron/open sights and no sabots! I have sized my bore for the THOR bullets using the .502's. The .500's just fell all the way through the barrel. The .501 needed very little force to run it through. And the .502 was perfect! I tried the .503's and could not even get it started it was so tight. I've ordered the 250 and 300 grain and will use with Buckhorn 209 as well as the Winchester
W209 shotshell primers. The only thing I'm not too crazy about is the iron sights provided with the gun. I was hoping to find a receiver sight (pep sight) for this gun but can't seem to find one. I hope to be out on the range this coming weekend and will let you know how it goes.

I would recommend this

Should take care of the peep issue.

Would like to see some 100yd target photos of groups....:s4:

That's a unique looking ML. Can't wait to see the targets also. As for the trigger guard, I don't think is so much as being ugly but where I hunt I can see it hanging up on branches and brush and just being a PITA.

Great review! They're definitely a great gun. Later this year they are supposed to come out with a CeraCote barrel, so they will have additional barrel options in the future as well. I'm hoping that they begin more models to their lineup in the near future.

IMO the ultimate test of a rifle, is when it lands in the hands of multiple shooters and the targets start showing up. Other than the writers, of those I know who have them, they may keep a 4" group @ 100yds.

Not trying to belittle the rifle but............ there are two of them here locally that would be impossible to shoot tight groups, regardless what many may hope. LHR is aware of those two rifles and have been for 6 months, yet they still set on the end cap of the sports shop. BOTH rifle's barrels wobble significantly when the action is closed. There is no consistency coming for either of those rifles.
