Been a while

I've been dropping by occasionally but haven't seen too much to reply about. I myself haven't been doing much shooting. I guess in my old age I prefer to tinker in the basement than go out in the cold. I've been handloading all my empty brass - rifle and pistol.
Got bummed out yesterday when I found out I was again unsuccessful in my WY elk tag draw. Son of a gun - that's 2 years in a row. Maybe next year.
But spring is right around the corner and the turkeys will start gobbling. I have that to look forward to.
My wife and I went to my attorney friend to get our wills prepared and he invited me to his fishing club. Three miles of pristine trout stream filled with big fat rainbows and browns. I guess that will help get me out of this rut I've been in ever since my mom passed.

Well fishing a good hole is always a pleasure. Sorry to hear you did not get your elk tag.

That sounds great. I haven't been fishing in years.

Welcome back Bronko. I am sorry to hear about your mom...losing a mom is hard.

Peace.

Welcome back pal. Sorry to hear about your mom. I went through with the same situation about two years ago. Lost my mother and three months later my dad. They are sorely missed, but memories are good.

I also have been doing a lot of cartridge making. With the current situation, thanks to the guy in the white house, I am in good shape for brass, powder and primers. All that stuff is hard to find now. Got a letter from Midway on this matter and telling all to have patience. It will get better I'm sure.

I didn't realize how good I was for bullets, both lead and jacketed. I also have more then enough lead for making new bullets. Now that is something I really like, making bullets! Lately I have been make some BPCR cartridges for my Trapdoors (rifle & carbine). Tried to shoot the carbine with my full BP loaded cartridges and nearly nocked my shoulder off. I checked it out and found that the Army discouvered this problem and down loaded the .45-70 with 55 hrs of BP. I have some made now, but have not had a chance to shoot some. I ended up using creme of wheat as fill. I should work nicely.

Here is a photo of my Trapdoors:

I only shoot BP in them. I figure they are too old to shoot anything else.

I may have moved off of topic, but at my age that happens a lot!

Sorry for your loss bronko.
Fishing is my second favorite sport, Im fortunate to live by several big creeks that in the fall are full of rainbows, browns, steelhead and every now and then a salmon. But my true love is Walleye, living close to lake erie is also a bonus and the spring walleye tournament is just around the corner.
May 2013 be filled with much Happiness, Good Health and Prosperity to you and your's.
(BP)

rafsob: I see a strop in that picture. Are you a straight razor shaver?

Thanks guys with the condolances. I'm fine with that. This weather is keeping me caged up. BP I haven't been fishing since 2003 since coming back from living in Florida. I used to fish Oswego and Pulaski several times a year for steelies, salmon, and big rainbows. And used to hit lake ontario in the spring for browns.

Hey I fished Oswego years ago and caught a bunch of salmon. did see any steel head, but the salmon were running. That was back in 1983. I was stationed in NJ with an ANG outfit and one of the guys worked up a trip. It was great. That is how I learned about the art of lifting! I remember walking through the woods to get to the stream and coming up on a guy who was cursing at the a monster salmon he was dragging behind him. It reminded me of dragging a deer out of the woods. That fish must have weighted more then 45 to 50 pounds. Nice area up there. For me it was a long drive up there. Good memories for sure!!!

Sorry for your loss Bronko. It's never easy loosing a loved one.

We got snow here up past our waists but I just send my son down range the first few times to break trail. Then all I have to do is keep it patted down once a week. I stepped off the beaten path to collect up my shot sabots today and was up to the boy's in no time. Walloing around like a half drunk sailor fresh off the boat!:s2:

Maybe this will help you out of your duldrums.:party0005:
