Its Been Ages.....

Well Its been along time since I've been on this forum or online for that factoid. But now I have internet and should be poking around more often. Hunting season was good this year. But I put the muzzleloader to side for it. Ended up using a Thompson Center Contender that I inherited from my uncle. It was chambered in a 6.5 JDJ. Then I ended up buy another barrel from JD Jones chambered in a .375 JDJ. You should really check out his website. www.sskindustries.com So I was able to shoot my first antelope and a muley with a handgun. Needless to say I was very happy and have the largest muley I ever shot. Antelope was shot with the 6.5 jdj at 113 yards and the buck with the .375 jdj at 150 yards.

Good to here from you again. Nice buck you have there. What part of the state did you shoot him in?
How was hunting with the Contender? I've got one with a .45 muzzleloader barrel on it right now, but I've also got a .357 Herret (sp?) barrel for it. I would really like to try hunting with it.

I do not know if there are any available but at one time I had a muzzle loading barrel for my Contender that was really excellant, gave me and advantage in compitition.

Welcome back. Looks like you had a good season.

Yes both kills were on the contender. I don't really need a muzzleloader barrel since i have the CVA muzzleloader pistol. Shot both in central MT. Ron will know where I got them. The buck scored just under 130 SCI. If it would have been 155 or above I would have been in the books for a pistol kill.

wow great shooting

I see the highway is closed between your old haunts, and Eddie's Corner. Handgun hunting always provided me a large challenge. You obviously made excellent shots. Them cartridge seem interesting; i myself, plan to hunt more next season using a breech loader.

Congratulations on both bucks, very nice.
