what powder?
 

just got a .50 knight wolverine II and I was wondering what kind of powder and and sabots everybody is using. thanks, who_else. GO HAWKS

I would suggest using the new Triple 7 loose powder - it' s good stuff.

I' m shooting a Knight USAK, which is practically identical to the Wolverine except I use #11caps and I' ve found that the Hornady XTP Mags and new SST sabots in 300gr shoot exceptionally well out of my gun with a 80gr load of 2fg Triple Seven. This past Friday I tried the SSTs for the 1st time and the first 3 shots I fired left a .6" group at 75yds - with all three shots overlapping........hard to beat that kind of accuracy.

You may also want to try the PowerBelt line of bullets. I' ve gotten the best results using the 348gr AeroTip model with 90gr of 777 powder.

Ive been shooting some old pyrodex, need to pick up a new jug but probly go with the tripple 7 ffg sense its hotter than pyrodex and cleans up MUCH faster im told. Ive been shooting 240gr xtp' s over 80 gr' s of pyro wiht open sights and its grouping well for me.

I shoot pyrodex select. I thought about going to the t7 after this runs out, but the way I look at it, the pyrodex works great in my rifles, so why change a good thing.

Every one DOES NOT use sabots! Some of us use bore-size conicals like Maxi-balls, Minie-balls, Buffalo Bullets, Hornady Great Plains bullets, or Power Belt bullets! In some states, sabots are illegal, like in Colorado!!

As several people have stated, 777 - (2F is what I am shooting) works great. I just returned from an elk hunt and, while it was only about a 65 yard shot, I smacked a nice 5x5 in the lung area and he side stepped twice, and tipped over like a ton of bricks.

I was holding good groups with 100 grains of this stuff and 348 gr Aerotips out to 150 yard in a .50 caliber.

Congratulations on the elk kill! For who_else, the 348 grain Aerotip is a full-bore size Power Belt bullet.
