If you are new to ML I would just go and buy one of the kits that they sell for the knights. It has everything that you need for shooting minus caps and powder. But to get you started you need...

blackpowder or sub
caps
cap loader/holder
bullets/balls
cleaning jag (I also use the wire one too)
BP cleaning solvent if you don' t want to use hot soapy water (which is all that I do)
breech plug grease
lots of patches (for cleaning)
nipple pick is nice for the once a year that I need it at the range

Thats pretty much it

Also.............

If you shoot loose powder, you' ll need a powder flask and powder measure. And unless you decide to shoot only PowerBelt bullets, you' ll need a short starter for starting bullets and/or round balls down the bore - as the ramrod isn' t for good for starting the round in the muzzle.

One word of advice on shooting a Knight: start off with moderate loads. Going with magnum loads right off the bat is usually counterproductive. Start with something like 300gr bullets and 80 to 100gr of powder and work your load for accuracy.........you' ll be much happier with the results much more quickly.

Answer Randy' s question and you won' t regret it... though he will probably recommend the 348 gr Powerbelt... among others.

Flatland is right, 348 gr. Powerbelts or 220 or 240 grain Dead Centers are what I' ve had the best luck with in Knights.

90 grains Triple 7 FFg should be close.

Ditto! Using 90-100 grains of pyrodex....I' ve seen this load be extremely accurate in many, many knight rifles. In fact, I have yet to see one that won' t shoot well with it. Good luck:)
