working on a new ramrod for my white lighting
I just have to cut to size a piece of 6061 aluminum. tip is on, a 9mm shell case jb welded on.
just really can't decide to keep it the metal color to match the barrel or to blacken it to match the stock |
Scratch it with a Scotch-Brite pad to make it a matte finish. Use about 2 million ;) small circular rubs with the pad all up and down the rod. Be sure it's the real Scotch-Brite and you'll want one of the finer grit pads.
Black will get scratched up and look like crap before long. The Scotch-Brite method of finish is easily corrected if it gets shiny from rubbing on something. |
ps: A Hunter Super Rod from Cain's Outdoor in the right diameter and length would be a good replacement. Probably just as cheap as rolling your own.

Corey, why not order one from Steve Brown? I know he has replacement ramrods.
|
already had the rod left from another project. already have a tip on it.
