have not had anything to post lately

just finally got a white, white lighting today. picked it up at a auction for what I feel for a good price. needs some tlc. but I been down that road before.

I will take a light to it and see if there is any visible pitting.

Wow!! good luck with that.

Looks pretty neglected . I don't think I could ever knowingly purchase a gun in that condition , even at a good price. I hope it cleans up and shoots good for you . Real shame someone would let a gun get like that , especially a White

Muley Hunter 11-10-2012 12:36 PM

Hope you got it real cheap.

Doesn't take long for these things to become a real mess does it! High maintenance, but cool to shoot.

flounder33 11-10-2012 01:04 PM

It does need a lot of TLC Cory but I have seen guns that were a real mess clean up and shoot pretty darn well. Get yourself (you might have it already) some bore paste and work that bore over good. Pitted barrels can shoot well but they make it a lot harder to do a decent job of cleaning them. Have fun with your new project!
If you didn't pay much you can't go wrong. There are White owners that would be interested in that stock and trigger if nothing else.
I do agree that it is a shame the previous owner did not take care of it.
Art
PS Plug that nipple and get some Kroil or some PB Blaster into that barrel and let it soak for a few days to hopefully help you get the breechplug out of there.

the breech plug came out easy. have it soaking right now. just finished working on the bore. took a number of patches. there is pitting about half way down the barrel and where the the charge set.

all I can say it was under $100.

my first muzzleloader was worst and shot really well.

flounder33 11-10-2012 01:44 PM

How does the trigger look Corey?

corey012778 11-10-2012 01:56 PM

great, works good.

problem is, I won't be able to shoot it until after christmas. my wife says it is my present. lol

told her i have to clean it before we store it.

I will have so after pics coming.

corey012778 11-10-2012 02:43 PM

finished detailing it. more wait time on parts that where soaking then cleaning the bore.

after pics lots

the only parts that did not need anything but a little oil.

my wife is out of the house tonight lol

stripercrazy 11-10-2012 05:38 PM

looks like it looked worse than it was....bore got shine and rifleing....kinda looks like my black diamonds...with the cap/spring/slide

stripercrazy 11-10-2012 05:40 PM

Good Luck with that one Corey, tell the wife it's a early christmas present, it's not like it's a surprise or anything. Get that sucker cleaned up and to the range and use it for this season. There's nothing more I hate than is getting something for christmas that I really could have used for the season just prior to christmas, especially if I already bought it for myself because I needed it and then find the same thing when I unwrap my gifts.
Again good luck with your White, dont forget some follow up pics and range reports.

corey012778 11-12-2012 09:16 AM

already got it cleaned up. took the season off, kinda of a good thing too, I had a number of things come up in the 24hrs that would of that would of made me cut it short.
i am wanting to get out and shoot it. going to shoot sabots out of it until I can get the funds up to get the mold to cast what I need.

pluckit 11-12-2012 10:19 AM

Cap off one end of a 3 inch pvc pipe and fill it with enough EVAPO-RUST to cover the barrel and soak it for 24 hours. There WILL BE NO MORE RUST in your barrel after that. And since it's a stainless steel barrel you don't even need to worry about re-bluing it.

My first ML was a Whitelightning bought used. If it had looked like that, I surely would have passed. It is the only one I've ever seen in a shop. I bought all my others over the internet, either from Doc or an auction site.

I tried getting my wife to hunt with the Whitelightning but she was not interested enough. So I'm going to restock it with purple laminate and get it ready for my daughter. She's just 9 mo. old but I'm sure she'll like to shoot it with Dad when she gets older.

Your gun is cleaning up very nicely. The bore is not in bad shape. i've cleaned up guns that were in much worse condition. Get a bronze bore brush and work it through the bore dry. It will not hurt the bore. It may get some of the remaining rust and crud out.

corey012778 11-12-2012 07:43 PM

ok, I let the cat out of bag. I only paid $70 for the gun. thanks to jess, the guy what was bidding on it, got the look and stopped.

idahoron 11-13-2012 02:37 PM

That one looks bad I hope it shoots for you. The white lighting was kind of a rare gun. Only 2000 made. I passed on one a while ago. I didn't like the idea of the birch stock. I am still looking for a inline my self. Ron
