Further shots?
I have my Knight DISC sighted to be dead on at 100 yards. This is w/ 100 gr. Pyrodex pellets and 265 gr. sabots. If I were to shoot 150 yards, approx. how high should I hold it? What about 200? Just curious as to a starting point for when I go to the range.

RE: Further shots?
WELL 3 INCHES HIGH AT THE 100 SHOULD BE PRETTY GOOD OUT TO 150 YARDS AND I WOULD SAY MAYBE A 8 INCH DROP AT THE 200 YARD TARGET

RE: Further shots?
just be careful shooting at a deer at 200 yards with a muzzleloader

RE: Further shots?
The energy drops rather dramatically after 100 yds , even with magnum loads . I don' t try shots further than 100 yds personally .

RE: Further shots?
I' m just trying this out on the range. I don' t think I' d take a shot at a deer over 150 yds. w/ my smokepole.

RE: Further shots?
Which bullet, specifically? Have you chroned the load?
150 yards should be little problem. Here' s a video clip of a caribou I took last week at about 155 yards (157 to be exact). http://www.prbullet.com/DCenter.wmv |
RE: Further shots?
Sorry, guess I shoulda mentioned that. It' s a 265 gr. hollow point Swift A-Frame (manufactured by Knight) sabot.

RE: Further shots?
Assuming you push that bullet at 1750 fps, if your gun is zeroed at 140 yards-- you have approximately a 164 yard MPBR, assuming a 6" kill zone.
At 100 yards, that is 2.72" high. This is approximate-- you certainly have to pull the trigger to know what your gun is really doing. |
