ML cleaning poetry by Rifleman

I found this while reading some old threads on MM.

There once was a man from Natucket
He cleaned all his guns in a bucket!
Dish soap and hot water
Oh what a bother!

Then one day he found
a gun by the sound
of things he could forego all the hassle!

Savage was the brand
and down to the man
they said cleaning was never a problem.

He bought two or three
and said with such glee
Now I can toss out my bucket!

The Semisane response:

There once was a man who drank ale
While cleaning his guns in a pail
It’s no chore said he
As he drank up with glee
And GOEX shall always prevail

Or maybe this:

If cleaning a gun is a chore
Which you can hardly endure
It’s probably true
It’s a Savage for you
But smokeless would just make me snore

GM

Why did I know that this was going to inspire Semi?

I thought it might. :D

One more:

What kind of lazy old bloke
Shoots a gun that doesn’t make smoke
He can’t stand the cleaning
And thinks it's demeaning
Though "smokeless" is just a sad joke

Semisane 09-14-2012 08:29 AM

I just can't help myself!

The cleaning he found quite foreboding
And wiping between each reloading
Bought a Savage he said
But what’s in his head?
Can it really be called muzzleloading?

There once was an old man
That lived in the woods
He shot this old flintlock
And they say he was good

But because he would load
From the muzzle each time
He knew he must clean it
And with that he was fine.

He’d gather his patches
His rod and his bucket.
He fill it with water
Where the barrel, he’d chuck it.

With patience and love
He’d clean that old rifle
Using patches and ramrods
He’d push and he shove

Til finally the patches
All came out so clean
He’d then dry it and oil it
Getting just the right sheen

Then the old man would carefully
Place the gun back, where it laid
Admiring the wood
And the steel it displayed

And he’d sit in his house
This silly old coot
Knowing full well tomorrow
Again, he would shoot
