Susie Q's First

It was an exciting time for one of the kids today. This was her first deer. And she did it with her muzzleloader she got last year for her 10th birthday.
I took a couple pictures but was more concerned with getting it home then quartered and in the fridge to cool.
She is one happy girl tonight:D

Knight LittleHorn
80 gr triple 7
winchester 777 primer
50 cal 220 gr Bloodline bullet

open sights 68 yards .
no tracking, deer dropped on the spot,

Well done! That deer looks like it was tickled pink by the young ladies shot.

cayugad 09-13-2012 07:29 PM

Congratulations to the young lady and her pink rifle. That is a heck of a load. And it looks like it is good medicine for a fine eating looking deer. Very nice job!!!

gregrn43 09-13-2012 07:36 PM

Way to go little lady, very nice deer.

Very, very nice. That is an awesome sight! My little girl is 6, and says she is interested in shooting and hunting. But she's pretty girly...I'm not sure how that will pan out by the time she's your young lady's age! Better get her shooting a .22 soon. Gotta work on the wife, though. She's nervous about it.

Grouse45 09-14-2012 06:06 AM

I always said if you are going to do something, then do it right . ;)
There is one thing though that is a minus on the LittleHorn(for her anyway). She isn't strong enough to pull the plunger back very easily. I usually do it for her, so I think a bolt action littlehorn for kids would be better for her, or a youth stock for the disc extreme. Then again maybe I'll get her some weights for Christmas to workout with ;)
She loves her gun though, even more so now i think. .One more youngin To go and then it'll be time to get the wife ready .

HuntAway 09-14-2012 07:43 AM

Deer can't see pink. It would just show like a grey.

Congrats to her!!!!

HA

The plunger needs to be stiff for safety reasons ecspecially with a 209 Primer. A bolt action youth gun is in the works. ;)

1874sharpsshooter

Find an orignal DISC with the shorter barrel and lighter in weight... then it would be easy to modify the a Extreme stock to fit... just a thought...

bronko22000 09-14-2012 10:12 AM

Fantastic - I'm always happy to see younger people taking up the sport. Especially the girls. And I too like the pink rifle. Even if they're hunting the girls need a 'touch of class'.

BuckDoeHunter 09-14-2012 11:35 AM

Congrats! Nice shooting!

Awesome, ans congrats to the young lady on a fine shot.

Tuff Bucker 09-14-2012 06:59 PM

Congrats!!! Does she shoot a rifle too? Was curious. I've got a 10 yr old daughter that I believe is ready to start shooting her own. Was just curious at what I should get for her. I've been suggested a .243. What you think?

bigboomer 09-15-2012 12:16 PM

That is too cool Brother . please tell her that she has a trophy of a lifetime , and that you where there to share it with her is a memory that will last a lifetime.

gman57 09-15-2012 01:33 PM

Great shot and a great memory for you and your daughter, congrats

1blueboy 09-15-2012 01:34 PM

Awesome!! She done a great job.

rjhans53 09-16-2012 12:53 AM

really nice deer and experience. I do agree that it wouldn't take much to take an old extreeme, cut the barrel down to 20" and shorten the stock. Or I'm sure (with out a scope) you could come up with some sort of a cocking tool to give her a little more leverage.

If your daughter hasn't shot before a 22 is a good way to start. No recoil, cheap to practice. If you mean for deer hunting then the 243 is a good choice. Susanna shoots a 223 for prairie dogs and she has shot a 243 but I'm trying to get all my kids to hunt with a muzzleloader, so thats what they are using for deer . Good luck ,I hope she becomes a regulat little hunter.:s4:
