good deed and a surprise at the range
 

I finally got to the range today. showed up, the place was a wreck. boxes and all other kinds of trash. there was only one person there to clean it up. so I helped out before I started shooting. felt good to help out.

while shooting. had this little one walk up on me.

I can't believe some guys shoot fawns.

Its good to see fawns out eating green grass. All they have to eat in most of OK is dead grass. Looks like a nice range too, US Forest Service owned, no less.

falcon, it is a nice range. it gets trashed on the weekends. I am going to start bring trash bags with me when I go shoot.

that is a nice healthy looking fawn there.

nice job on your part corey. Funny they don't have a range master there on weekends to police the range.

It's a free public range in the National forest. They don't have a range master anytime. It's up to you to police yourself. I know this because I recognize the pictures as I've been there quite a bit.

That said, that's awesome to see those pictures. I've been there a lot, but never seen a deer there.

very cool we had a doe walk down the berm and cross the 50 yard range we shot some 9mm handgun shots when it was on the side of us eating grass didn't bother it it jumped when we fired the blackpowder only mover 10 and watched us for 9 more shots and then walked away

Trap league starts this Thursday.

Every year deer browse just out of range from the shot. Actually, they look like they'd be showered with shot but they must be just out of range or they don't mind lead shower.

4 traps and 20 guns blazing away... no worries. It's sight to see.

That's not good to hear. I try to clean up around there as well. I wish more people would do this. It seems that too many people disrespect the place, and the only thing that gets picked up is the brass.

there is a guy that comes up and picks up the brass for the scrap. I am off monday so I may go up there with a gun or not and help with the clean up again. either way a trip worth while.

the lady said she is going to see if they can get someone to come up on the weekends more and check on the range. may not help with the trash being left behind. may help with the extra holes in everything else

We have that at the Highland Pistol/Rifle range all the time. The traps sit on a hill side and throw out over a low marsh/swamp area. We see deer out there all the time while we are shooting and the broken birds and shot just seem to fly over/around them and they don't pay a lick of mind!!! We had 37 turkeys last spring/early summer during a large registered shoot and each time a shot went off, the toms would gobble. They must have died from so much gobbleing that we havent seen them since in that large of group!!!! :happy0157:
