FlintlockJohnny Got Himself a Barr
 

A young man who didn't want to be bothered with a video camera sure is glad he did!!!. I do believe that I am one of the nicest fathers around. I gave that boy my best bait to sit. A video camera to sit with and an oportunity to shoot a really nice bear!!!

There were two flintlocks in the bush yesterday. The Lyman DeerStalker .50 cal Flintlock, belched forth fire , smoke from 100 gr of 2F GOEX and a 360 gr Pricision Rifle Etreme Elite bullet.

My boy FlintlockJohnny smoke himself a big bear yesterday evening. His father forgot some very important things. Like a saw, come-a-long, knife sharpener, etc. etc, etc.

Long story short. He passed on a bear that I probably would have shot. I had told him earlier that there were several bears coming in and there were about 3 or 4 shooters. I told him to wait for the scruffy one with the almost black muzzle as it was the best of the bunch. I give him the utmost credit for having the willpower to hold out.

It took some willpower as the first bear that came in circled the bait and was directly underneath his stand. At which time he stopped filming the bear and primed his rifle in case it wanted to get up close and personal.

The big boy came in around 6 pm. It was 11 pm by the time we got home. :busted: Note to file. Dad has lost his memory. Make list of things to have on ATV!!!

I'm uploading the videos at a snails pace. Once they are up, I'll post them.

mighty fine. Congratulations to the both of you. If I could choose any hunt to go on it would be a bear hunt. We dont have them here though so I got to stick with Mt Lion. Nice looking bear.

Fantastic, I know first hand how much joy you get in seeing your kids have some hunting success, (or success of any kind for that matter).

That is a real nice bear. Beautiful coat color. While we learned the load, tell that young man we need a first hand account story. You know, range, where hit, pass through, how far it ran, and of course.. Did it death moan? Congratulations to Johnny. Now it is your turn. Good luck.
