Ageing Renegades
Not sure on the age of it. The serial # consists of a Letter 4 #'s and another Letter.
L 31## K I bought it around '87 Thanks, HA |
Sounds like a kit gun because of the letter K. And as for age, well I purchased a Renegade in 79 and it too was a kit. The serial number is K 5***. But the first number is 5 so your serial would indicate its smaller then mine. I am not sure what the L is for. The K in my number is the first number and there is no L.

Thanks Dave and yes mine was a kit gun as well.
I wonder when the first year of production was for the Renegades? HA |
First one was in the 70's I think.

Looks like 77 for the Renegade and 70 for the Hawken.
In 1977, T/C came out with the Renegade as a lower-cost alternative to the Hawken. Instead of the Hawken's brass furniture, it had blued steel. It also lacked a nosecap on the stock and instead of a crescent buttplate, had a shotgun butt. This makes it more comfortable to shoot with heavy loads. http://blogostuff.blogspot.ca/2012/0...ck-powder.html HA |
They were under $200 too. Wouldn't that price be nice now?

I found an old catalog page for the Renegade. It was $185.
Yeah, you guys get screwed in Canada for prices, but it's nice there. |
My best friend owned a Sporting Goods Store and had a FFL. He came to me one afternoon and said his supplier had a deal on Thompson Center Renegade Kits in .54 caliber for $149.99.
