White rifle problem
A friend of mine contacted me about a White he has. At first we went over loads and stuff. Today he told me the gun has a bulge half way down the barrel. Does anyone know if those barrels can be replaced? Ron

The older model Whites have a barrel that is threaded into the receiver. I imagine it could be replaced but I wonder what the cost would be. It might be cheaper to find another White rifle. Your friend might think about contacting Doc White to see what he thinks.

I recently e-mailed Doc White asking if it were possible to purchase a .45 or .50 caliber White barrel - plain, no sights, no ramrod thimble, no breech threads, etc. And if so, what one might cost?
The answer was "$250 White specs inernally.plus S&H DOC". So I assume if the barrel is threaded into the receiver I may be possible to purchase an appropriate replacement for something over $250. |
I think he is going to look for a new rifle. Ron
