Probably the best one... imo... is the Lyman peep. It has some real advantages and the one that like the most is you can push a button and releas the mechanism so you can move the sight up and down as if it were 'creedmore' for the different ranges...

Looks like a convincing setup to me.

i'd have to carve the stock and i dont want to do that as its a very early 4 digit serial number renegade with a blond walnut stock.

Got a deal from Josh on his tc peep so im sure i will be happy with that.

Now after watching that darn Sasquatch show, i most likely will be ordering a 450gr "54cal" Lyman Plains bullet mold.

You can make it fit without modifying the stock by fabricating an off-set extension plate that mounts on the tang. It may require grinding a bit off of the inside bottom face of the sight.

Personal taste. I don't like seeing anything modern on a sidelock.

It's the only reason i'm hunting with an inline now. I need a scope, and i'll only put one on an inline.

Not sure about that Jon the Lyman you see in this picture was ordered for a Lyman Trade Rifle that I had at the time.

Guess a phone call would tell you fairly quickly.

Lots of people shooting a sidelock in the mid 1800's didn't think that way when the Malcolm tube scope came out. I bet many wished they had one on their sidelock. Now days of course if we are going to scope a sidelock only the malcolm tube scope would be acceptable for some I guess.:s13::confused:
after all, it's period correct. Right??

Yes, that's true, but I probably wouldn't have had one in those days.

At least not until I got old like I am now.

not a lot used scopes back in the 1800s due to the cost and the fact they were so fragile. Maybe the rich yuppie hunters back in the day, but the smart ones kept open sights.
