Palmetto - first range report

I quickly stole an hour to go to our local range, the weather is really bad, windy and sniping cold.
I tested the rifle with a 85gr load Sannadex(local brand), Harvestor Crush Rib sabots loaded with a 230gr XTP.
It took me around 5 shots to quickly zero the scope, not to bad.
I took the next 3 shots at 50m with the same set-up, the pic shows potential but I will still play with different loads of powder.
All in all, I'm still convinced I bought a little gem.

Looks like a winner.

Nice shooting.

A keeper for sure.

It looks like a great shooter to me. Nice shooting.

I agree, now to find the sweet load. I borrowed a modified Martini mould from a friend, it casts 350gr .45 conicals which I also want to shoot with the Harvester sabots.

Looks like a very good start!

Looking good Wildeboer. I'm glad you got a good one.

Went to the range today again, same results but I wonder what if I change the Musket-caps to std no11 CCI caps?
Ps. I'm using the Musketcaps since I bought them with the rifle and the previous owner used them. I forgot the std CCI no11's at home today and then started wondering while I was on the range.
can different caps make a big difference?

It can make a difference changing the caps. Anytime you change anything, it can basically change the way the rifle shoots. But I have found it does not make that drastic if even noticeable change.

I hope to get smaller groups but maybe I'm expecting too much, my current groups are good for hunting but we allways want more...
On the other hand the tinkering makes the sport more interesting, allways something more to try.
