Range Report - Some Good, Some So, So
I have been cowering from the heat the past 6 weeks or so. Finally, I had to hit the range even though the conditions were less than perfect. I knew a hot barrel would be an issue for sabots so I went with an all full bore conical day.
First up was the the White Bison in a .540. I knew it liked 425 grain Hornady Great Plains so I put a group in a 50 yards with 80 grains of T7. I flinched on one shot but the others piled up nicely. ![]() I moved to 100 yards with two rounds remaining and found out I adjusted the scope the wrong way. ( don't snicker like you haven't done the same thing ) I was shooting at the right target. ![]() Next up was the Disc Extreme .52. I had bought these bullets off Gunbroker and they came in a little undersized. The large is 435 and the small is 375. I used some teflon tape to add a little girth. They are still in the slip fit category. ![]() First up was the 435's, a wad and the same 80 of T7. 50 yard group. Not impressive but it may have potential. ![]() It was getting pretty hot so I threw a 3 shot group with the 375's, no wad. ![]() It was good to get out and good to try something different. I don't know if the FBC will ever replace the saboted load but it's fun to have something new to work on. |
looks like nice shooting to me. And yes, I have moved scopes and sights the wrong way. That Bison would be a real knock down rifle.

I make it a practice to move the scope in the wrong direction quite frequently. It keeps you humble and provides a laugh for the gods of muzzleloading.
Good shooting Josmund. I wouldn't hesitate to use any of those bullets on game. |
