I've read it so many times, that it might be true. They say the larger the bore the slower the twist for RB. So, 1-48 might be just right for a .32 cal.

The last time I took the .32 caliber rifle to the range I think it shot pretty well. Here is one of the last targets I shot at 50 yards.

And here is one I shot at 75 yards.

Sounds good to me as long as I get first pick of the litter.

My wife says the rifles in the picture I posted all look alike.
How crazy is that?
The .45 caliber in the middle is at half cock.

Anyone use a .32 cal for medium game? I'd use it for small, and with a RB.

Good groups at 50 yds pluckit. Unless of course there were supposed to be 5 holes (just kidding of course...couldn't help myself despite not knowing you well enough.).

What do you call medium game?

That's considered big game, and a .32 would not be near enough, and not legal in most states.

A .54 is a better choice for a PRB.

The second target, the 75 yard group, was shot before the 50 yard group. There were scope adjustments after the first and second shot. Then the three shot group was shot and hit just above the bulls eye. I think any one of those 3 shots would have put a squirrel in my game pouch. Pretty darn good 3 shot group at 75 yards with a .32 caliber smoke pole. Then the target was moved in to 50 yards to see the difference in the point of impact from 75 to 50 yards. I was surprised to see the round ball was still on the rise from 50 to 75 yards.
My next task is to see what it will do at 100 yards. That should be interesting.

Muley: My understanding is that critters such as elk, brown bear (large black bears), buffalo, moose and such are considered large, whereas things like deer are medium. That's how Federal ammunition has their game guide set up.

What do you consider medium game?

I've read places where people use .32 or maybe it was .36 cal BP rifles for hunting deer and such. I thought it was underpowered, but the more I read the more I find accounts of what I had always thought inferior and weak was taking plenty of critters home.
