Omega range session

I decided to take out an Omega I picked up a while back. It had both a regular stock and thumbhole stock. I have really come to like thumbhole stocks , so that is what I put on it.

I installed an XS Ghost ring peep sight. That's the main thing I wanted to do was see if I could get it on paper with the ghost ring peep.
I wasn't looking to work up a load or shoot for accuracy, I just wanted to try the peep out.
I had some old IMR white hots that are several years old, so I decided to get rid of them by shooting them up. I took the white hots, 250 gr Shockwaves with standard black sabots and triple 7 primers.
I only shot at 50 yards because I figured it might not be on paper,
As it turned out the first shot was not only on paper but good enough that I decided not to make any adjustments.

Here is the 2nd shot and finally 3 shots.

The first shot on a clean barrel was low, but 2 and 3 were touching..

Nothing to brag about but once I work up a load I think the XS peep will be a lot better than the Williams. I really have a hard time with adjustments on a sliding ramp style of sight.
On the XS the windage has 2 screws for adjustment and for elevation the ghost ring itself screws up or down. I might try it out come hunting season.'
It's hard to believe i was on paper with no adjustments. Some days are just good i guess:happy0001:

You can brag about that, nice shooting. I have the Williams on both my X7 and S91-11 and do agree sliding the ramp up or down can be a pain in the a$$ sometimes. But once dialed in dead deer down.

I am always amazed at the accuracy and simplicity of a peep sight. The ability for our eye to naturally center an object (the front sight) in the aperature is simply astounding. I guess that's why its been the choice of sight for militarys for years. Accurate and sturdy. I truly believe that I can shoot a peep as well as a low power scope out to at least the 50 yard mark.
Good job. I'm sitting in the AC today. No shooting for me. Right now it 95* in the shade.

Why would you say that? Seems odd. Especially from a shady character like you....:busted:

You are right . The only problem I'm having now is the targets seems awful tiny after shooting a scope so much.

I changed my BK92 back to a peep. In addition to being fun and accurate, it sure makes the rifle handle well. Not unlike a lever gun. A true joy to carry in the woods.

For those who are concerned with the adjustability of the peep, try the William FP series. They have click adjustments. You can even get target knobs on them.
