first try at pan lubing.
some lee 440-501
45cal lee improved minies 50cal 320 lee reals red roaster lube thinned with olive oil ![]() |
It looks like it stayed in the grooves of some of them better than others. I haven't tried that method.
|
you are warming the bullets an lube in a oven of some type. i did 10 to 15 mins at 200 to 250.
i did mine in a $5 goodwill toaster over. going to have to find a smaller pan. it is said to be one of the cleaner methods. I am going to pick up a cheap pair of pliers just for this. set it on wax paper the bases come out a little cleaner. still trying to figure out a cook cutter for the 50cal and 54cal bullets |
Looks too thin Corey.
|
thin is OK IMO, to much lube causes more mess and sticky fouling i find.
|
in my win apex, it like thin lube
|
Way to THIN  Cory why did you add oil to it ?
Get your self a double boiler of some type to melt your lub in , do not add any oil to the lub - just melt it . Do not heat your Bulletts , Just set the bullets right side up in a cake pan or something like that leaveing a little space between them . Then dip your lub in until you are where you want to be on your bulletts. Then just let it cool on its own ALL THE WAY cool After it cools then pop your Lub cake out of pan and just push the bulletts threw the lub until they drop out. This way your lub sets up and stays were it belongs. Just the way I do it , it may work for you as well. "Good Luck" |
oh, don't it that way. still came away with more lube on my hands.
as for thinning the lube. I did not like how it coated the bullets at its full thickness. plus, it shot well on the first test. |
found an old target pics. 50yrd test. only had 5 bullets made up. the test I did showed promise.
50yrds. win apex 45cal lee improved minies. red roaster lube soften with olive oil. first two shots with wads last three no wads. 65grs of t7 3f. (I think) only had 5 made up at the time. ![]() after that, made me fell like it give me something to work with. never got a chance to get around to work with the load. |
