Hungry?

My wife Rosemary is cooking up a "little" pot of deer chili.

chaded 06-19-2012 01:19 PM

Man..you eat that all yourself?

cayugad 06-19-2012 01:23 PM

Well that looks real good. Chili is always good. Don't forget the Beano.

Definately...if it lasts that long.
I'm just finishing up a batch I made last week.

When I want comfort food I make split pea and smoked ham soup. There is nothing better to me then that. I can make a huge pot of soup and have been know to eat it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night snack.

Chili and I have a love hate relationship. I love it but it hates me. Heart burn, and too many crackers.. if you know what I mean. I do make it kind of spicy though. Probably accounts for the heart burn.

Wow!! Now i am wishing for split pea, and ham soup!

I Like to cut some back strap into inch square chunks and put it in the slow cooker[crock pot] with potatoes, carrots, tomatoes and some baked beans for about 4 hours. This was a favorite meal after the wife died and I was single, we still have it once in a while since I remarried but not as often.

Muley Hunter 06-20-2012 11:01 AM

Personally, I wouldn't use a backstrap for anything but steaks, but that's me.

Been there. Done that. Except I don't wear bib overalls. Never liked those things. Light weight khaki is my style.

Pea soup or chill is just fine with me also!!!

As to the pea soup, that is a tradition in my house after New Years. My wife take the ham bone from New Years dinner and uses it to make our pea soup every year. The recipe comes from my great grandma and is a New Years tradition in Holland. It is called erton (sp?). Been eating it for years.

Hey Dave, I always thought Semi was one of the brothers in that show. Or at least one of their relatives!!!
